He was raised by his mother, Comfort Gyamfi (Ama Saah), after the death of his father, Owoahene Kwadwo Fosuh, when he was a child. Daddy Lumba’s music career began at the age of 16 when he led the Juaben Senior High School choir. He formed a group called the Lumba Brothers with friends and later collaborated with Nana Acheampong in Germany to produce their first album titled “Yereye Aka Akwantuo Mu” in 1989. This album marked the beginning of his successful career in highlife music.
Over the years, Daddy Lumba has released approximately 34 albums, including critically acclaimed works such as “Aben Wɔha,” “Sika Asem,” and “Obi Ate Me So Buɔ.” His music often reflects personal experiences and societal issues, making him one of Ghana’s most influential musicians. He has also been instrumental in launching the careers of several other artists, including Ofori Amponsah.
